Well I was rather excited yesterday when I saw that "Delivered" text when tracking my packages. I had gotten an Iron Gym Extreme pull up bar, a fancy new scale that I hope would actually give semi-accurate weight, and of course my p90x DVD's.
Previously I had bought a new set of bars for weights and a really nice yoga mat and I had just gotten the stink of rubber out of it so I was excited to begin. Well after setting up my scale to recognize me. I put together my pull-up bar. It was an easy task and was trying to put it up when I found that my door frame was too thick. I had in part expected this but was still rather bummed. But I found I could modify it so I set off for the hardware store.
After much struggle - mainly with trying to drill through the pipes with a cordless drill that doesn't hold it's charge. I put it back together and got it installed. It is a little bit more wobbly but it held nicely. I hung from it for awhile to make sure and after a bit of settling of the house and frame it was rock solid. That didn't help me to be able to do any pull-ups however and the wide grip p90x fit test recommends I couldn't even budge myself.
Anyway that was yesterday today I did my measurements and weight:
Weight 193.6
Fat 19.1%
Muscle 38.5%
Chest 44
Waist 43
Hips 41
Right Thigh 26
Left Thigh 25.5
Right Arm 16
Left Arm 15.5
I apologize for any mental trauma these pictures may cause.
My biggest challenge however awaits.

Beginnings
It's strange how the mind can suppress or just ignore what happens all around you, to you, and even to the mind itself. Small changes over the course of years can add up until eventually you force yourself to take notice.
In my situation this is my heath and weight. When I was 18 I was 5'11 and 140 lbs, and I looked too skinny and I thought I always would be. I ate, even for a teenage male, ridiculous amounts of food. Of course to my mind I figured why will I ever have to change? My teenage years ended I went through a few years of college and nothing had changed I had filled out a little, mostly muscle but was still 148 pounds roughly.
Over the years that number must have been going up but I never really paid attention to it though I don't know how. I can thank genetics for the fact that virtually every pound was added around my middle. I still can't say when I hit 160, 180 I do know I hit 200 in November 2011 and that was enough to shock me into realizing that I wasn't the skinny kid anymore. It could be far worse but it is complicated by a few issues such as diastasis recti (splitting of abdominal muscles) which causes my stomach to protrude even more than my weight gain would have done.
Well I have decided it is time to change that I have had multiple people I know do well by it, so I have purchased p90x as well as all the other equipment I would need to do the program. It should be arriving in 2 days so until then its just preparing. I will do a weigh in right before I start as well as photos and keep posting new ones through the program.
